Early Spring
This layout was meant to be quick - I created it to use quite a few of the prima-like digital flowers, as I was today writing up an article on these, and where you can find them - to be published this week on UKScrappers, before appearing on this blog. However, despite the ease of design, it took me all afternoon as normal.
Published: Scrapbook Bytes Tidbytes March 2006 (In the Sketch section, as I’d used Pattie Knox’s design)
Credits
- Design Layout: Pattie Knox provided this design scheme within the SBB Tidbytes Feb 06 edition. I’ve mailed her to tell her thanks.
- All papers from the Tidbytes freebie downloads for the month also - papers by Early Spring kit by Sabrina Preville. The kit name gave me my theme, but I chose it immediately as the papers suited my photographs I’d had in mind for ages.
- Prima flowers (and pin brads) - the reason for the article in the first place - I used a large range from the following designers, all available at SBB again - Kim Christensen, Gina Miller and Ali Folendore.

Easter Egg Hunt (Left)
Wow, a layout! Created on the day the photos were taken, no less. Suffering from virtual memory PC problems, this reasonably simple double digital layout took several hours rather than the two it should have.
Credits:
- The background paper, bunny, ribbon and eggs by Kelly Sauvage were perfect for these photographs. This is Kelly’s Cottontail Trail kit available from KathrynBalint.com. I made the eggs into charms at the top, and threaded with some bits of silver chain. The ribbon has been warped and grunged up also, to help with the effect.
- There are two little charms on the ribbon - the egg basket and lettuce, which (along with the bottom egg ribbon) come from Mo Jackson - her latest April kit has these in there.

Frank
Every year, I dedicate one layout to document the household cats. This is Frank’s one, caught napping in newly grown spring grass. The rest of us weren’t allowed to walk on that grass at all.

Giddy Happy
Maya from Scrapbook Graphics advertised this new kit, called Oh Happy Day, only yesterday - she said it was to brighten up everyone’s day. It did. I needed it.

I Was There
The second of my June 2006 holiday snapshots, created to the theme to suit a challenge from the scrapblog of the week - Everyone is Speshal. A kit free layout. Perhaps a little too simple, but I like the simplicity this time around.

I Was There Remake
I couldn’t leave this one alone. It feels like I’m doing something out of a scrapbooking magazine - here’s iteration 2, with more stuff on it.

Menorca Wish
The first of my June 2006 holiday snapshots, created to the theme to suit a challenge from the scrapblog of the week - Everyone is Speshal. I was wondering how on earth to scrap these particular snapshots.

Ultimate Digiscrapper Competition Layout, Round 2 (Digiscrappin.biz) - Theme: About Me (Note - this layout did not go through to the next round)The concept for this new layout comes from an ATC card I was playing with a couple of weeks ago. I’ve basically gone out and changed everything anyway, and run with the theme. The Pacific Blues moku on my chin harkens back to my partial New Zealand origins.

*Grunge border frame - Maya of scrapbookgraphics.com (Frivolous Frames) - recolourised
*Seahorses, seagulls - mine (seahorses have had filters applied for golden-ness)
* Copper curls at bottom - mine
*Lyrics used and credited on layout itself - The Sea, Morcheeba
*Photos - mine, yes that’s my back - horrible picture, but my reality (good thing you can slim yourself down a little digitally too!)

Journaling (very small) reads:
for the first
30 years of my
life I grew up
and lived, and
worked close to
the sea. the pacifc
ocean is life to me,
and even now that
i am landbound in
england, i still need
to find my soul in a
trip to the coast.
it is only there that
i remember all that
i am, including mother,
wife, manager, crafter,
and mostly, mostly - i
remember that
i am a dreamer,
living free -
Pacific Promise
I fell in love with this kit when I saw it previewed and knew I just had to use it. The blues and greens are so spot on from my memories of New Zealand.

Princess
My daughter was invited to a Princess Party in April of this year. I held onto the photos for some time, wondering how to deal with them, then just chose today, one photo only.

- Textured Fabric Mat - JoDe Lawrence (www.alteredscrapping.cm)
- Stitches (including straight stitch, blanket stitch and handsewn daisies) - Mo Jackson

Journaling Reads:
Why is it that no matter how beautiful and sweet a little girl may be…she will still search for more prettiness by “needing” to dress up as a fairy princess?

I designed this layout as an example for a review of the book written for UKScrappers.

Tired Self
Created for the Scrap Yourself challenge running currently through the UK, and internationally. This photo was taken on the day of learning of the challenge - March 15th. I realised how real the photo was, and how much it indicates my state of being lately - tired. So tired. I used the personal journaling to talk about my fight with endometritis, the dehibilitating pain, the constanst surgery, doctors who don’t or won’t make decisions to help me, and feeling sick every day of the month but having to pretend everything is alright. Reality scrapping at it’s most raw, I guess. I’m not sure that was what was envisioned with the Scrap Yourself challenge - but I use my own photos often here on my website - normally to slightly ridicule myself. This is truer to myself than any of that.

Valentine for Our Poser
Think Pink - the first of a series? Not sure, but I like it anyway.

- The rest - lots of brushwork, including 1Greeneye brushes called Porceleine Swirl

valentines2 upload.jpg
Yesterday I created a new layout and published it up here. All pink, it had quite a lot of brushwork in it. When I look back at that, I realise the slight graffiti style phase I’m going through at the moment. Because today I created this one.
Credits:
- Background and some png files from Maya’s kit, Passion, available from Scrapbook Graphics. I went out and purchased this and several others from SG today - this rich deep red kit was my pick of the sweep of valentines themed digital kits out there this season.
- The additional elements used are a mix of several of Maya’s stamp collections bought at the same time. These come as abr brushes or png files for me to use - I’ve used a mix of elements from Weird is Wonderful, Thingamajigs and the Passion stamp collection which is an additional to this beautiful kit.
- Photo - taken in a portrait session at CenterParcs by a company called Pret-A-Portrait, who sold the entire photos to us as digitals. No copywrite committment either - meaning I can use these as I like. But they took enough great photos to be due the credit anyway. Use them whenever you can, instead of the extordinate prices of Venture - who then don’t let you use the photos for scrapbooking.
-
valentines3
My third valentines layout using Pret-A-Portrait photos. This one means a lot to me - I call my daughter, "Sweetie" as a term of endearment, and the long phrase is "Sweetie Pie, Hunny Bun" and additionally my husband have one of those songs in common - "Sugar, oh honey, honey" sung by Archie originally.
Credits: -
All backgrounds and elements by Deb F - she gave away a kit called My Candy from her blog last weekend - full of lots of papers, elements, alphas - the theme was spot on with what I wanted. Thank you Debbie Fisher.

Perfume & Hayfever
Doodle template in total is by Becky Fleck, provided in the Aug/Sept edition of Scrapbook Answers Magazine. I simply inserted colour and a photograph. This is an incredibly quick way to produce a digital layout using someone else’s doodles - so thanks, Becky.
These photos have been sitting around for some time, taken of our daughter posed in the rape seed oil plants which flower in Spring throughout the Fenlands district. The perfume is intense, and so is the hayfever symptoms many thousands of locals suffer from. But the fields of intense yellow are wonderful to drive through at that time of the year.

Relaxing in Menorca
A simple and quick layout, because I used a layered template. This is one of the few times I’ve remained using everything from a kit also, rather than throwing on lots of other pieces. Mainly the intention here was to get a layout done quickly with a photo which has been hanging around - calling to be scrapped.
