Art for Art's Sake

Back in the mid to late 80s in the New Zealand of my youth, a chain store retailer started up to sell framed prints. Nowadays, every small town or high street shopping centre has one form of these types of shops on it. New Zealand’s one was named "Art for Art’s Sake" and the name and quote has stuck with me ever since.

This is my art for arts sake, in quirky nature. It was created as a result of a challenge I set myself and others to create an altered type avatar image. All the images (aside from that of my own head, and the lizard) come from various collections by Maya of Scrapbook Graphics. The flip top head is an image that many should recognise as an icon often associated with Monty Python or Terry Gilliam specifically. If you see a smaller version used as an avatar on forums, you’ll be able to recognise me.
