Digital Mystery Season
Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 12:25PM All sorts of marketing / publicity ploys from Digital Designers or Affiliates come to mind, given the quantity of digital designers out there now (did someone mention 300+). Recently I’ve been intrigued to see two lots move into a solvable mystery scenario to grab people’s attention.
First we had the Scrapanos at SIB with TVBoy - which I blogged about on Monday last. Now we have an additional mystery with 5 Digi chicks with a joint blog. More on each below -
Scrapanos and SBI
I received an email from Ivebeenframed on this a couple of days ago. Here’s a direct copy, as it gives you some links -
Hello Michelle,Thanks for posting about our investigation into the Scrapano Gang last week.Thought you might want to know:TV Boy Has Been Found - Hauled in for Questioning.Read the full story at www.sbiblog.comAnd get the swag discovered at TV Boy’s secret hangout by visiting
http://greensneakers.com/tvboyquestioned.aspStay tuned as investigators believe the final location of the
conspiracy is soon to be discovered. All the best,SBI Investigative Team
Pretty kewl, huh? Go to the top link for more information (and more cartoon graphics) and to the greensneakers link (part of the Kreate-a-Lope offering) and you will find two quick pages created by Dianne Rigdon and Doris Castle to download. I presume that Carrie Stephens’ pages are to come. Just to add to this - the About Page on SBI says the following -
"A comical look at the world of scrapbooking from an investigative sensibility, reviewing new websites, new products, funny characters and anything worth a laugh"
So although the tie-in for the Digital Designers seems to be to supply some digital products, the SBI website itself looks potentially appealing from a themed viewpoint. Stay tuned, as they say…
Digi Bunch - Who Are They?
At a similar time, the following advert came out through Promos4Digis -
So we now have five digital designers getting together to create one blog, with a mystery also. Personally I can’t be bothered trying to work out who they are - although suspect that other clues are available in the fact their chick avatars are posted in the advert, and they have since sent out other ads giving other clues -
- Between the five designers, the sell at seven digital stores
- Two share the same first initial, none share the same last initial.
- The mails are coming from someone named The Tall Cool One - which means I pity the girl who might be the short squatty one (which I would be if in a group like this). There are obviously two blondes, two brunettes and perhaps someone of some Asian background involved also? Don’t know…maybe the avatar chicks are completely misleading.

But kudos to them for creating their own buzz! Maybe *I'll* have to interview them for my podcast!! They are certainly welcome to contact *me*, too -- I can keep a secret, too! ;)
How about a little clue? Two of us have day jobs completely unrelated to scrapping in any way. Bit of triva: those same two met through one of those jobs.
I understand, too, about not having the time to hunt all around for clues, Michelle. We started this as something fun and a way for someone to win a prize if they wish to embark upon our trail of clues. So while it may annoy some or have some saying, "I don't have time for that...," we hoped there would be others still who found it fun and entertaining! That was our intent, anyway. Perhaps I've been reading too many books like those by Dan Brown lately or something... ;)
And while I'm here, why not a clue, eh? Let's see, let's see...
Techno Gurl is a tech wiz (I don't believe her nickname stems from a love of techno music, but maybe she likes it). The very first kit I designed has two words in its name (and it's still up for sale, actually, at several locations online). Some of us paper scrap, some of us are only digi, some of us love other craft endeavors too. Digi is our shared addiction. Oh, and I'm a regular reader of your blog. :)
