The Bloglines Notifier
So, you’ve subscribed to lots and lots of blogs, news feeds, and the odd podcast also. The Bloglines notifier provides you with an easy tool to know when you’ve got new stuff to read.
| Step | Action |
|
1. | Within Bloglines, notice the extra options on the bottom left. You want the Download Notifier option.
|
| 2 | On the right hand screen, you now have quite a few options. You can choose a download for a Windows Notifier, or one per browser option (Firefox has an extension).
There are notifiers available for most computer or browser types. I use the Windows notifier.
Follow the instructions to download and install your notifier, and you will then have a little button which will notify you when new content is available within Bloglines. This is based on each blog subscription being set up to notify you also. The latest default as you will see from our own Subscription steps, is to not notify you.
|
| 3 | Here’s my Windows Notifier – sitting in my bottom task bar right beside the clock. Whenever new blogs come through with content, the Bloglines notifier beeps at me, and informs me of how many more items there are to read. The red star on the button indicates I have new content. A balloon pops up periodically with more info. Clicking the little icon takes me into Bloglines.
