Pre-Catchup

What's a pre-catchup, I hear you ask? It's the catchup you have in preparation for the catchup you know you're going to have in the short-term future. It's getting your desk a little clearer, so that you have room to dump out those bottom drawers full of recyclable rubbish.

I remain on holiday, so won't be doing the big catchup until three days away still, but have come online briefly to download Day 8 & 9 of the 30 Day Challenge transcripts. All I can say, is thank goodness for them, as I can't watch any of the videos from here.

I have a list of domain names I will be registering, and will probably take the Hostgator Baby package being offered at a discount within the 30Day Challenge. Then I'll setup the first blog with Word Press Direct. I wasn't so keen on the interim benefits of WPD and that being pushed on me with 30DC, however Linwood of the 30DC Anti-Team on Facebook reminded me to just follow along with the program this month. Then I can cancel out of those services I don't want. As long as I can get into the backend and learn Wordpress from that side, in order to put in new templates and plugins and to post blogs, and I'll be happy that WPD actually sets up my blog and all those plugins initally with little fuss.

I have a bunch of keywords, but haven't actually thought hugely into this, via Market Sumarai - it's not been available to me this week, so I've not yet gone off and taken an article for content from anywhere. As a wannabe writer, that goes against my particular grain anyway. My sites are going to have MY CONTENT on them. That's what I'm all about in this blogging business. So, I'm not going to make any money from it, but at least I know how to title the blog content, catergorise it for search engines now, and perhaps tie in some affiliate links on the first one I'll be trying out.

I've not gotten onto Blog Mastermind at all last week, having not received the Week 2 email with passwords (really must swap over to all web-based mail, reminds me). Hopefully with WPD and the setup, I will at least meet Week 1's target of getting a blog up and running for the rest of that.

How to Think Sideways has taken a back seat these last few days. I still haven't had my muse pop in some more ideas for me to accept or challenge for stories. Perhaps all this catchup business of 30DC is not great for allowing the muse to well, muse. Poor dear. I miss walking my dog - where things open up for such deliveries.

I have a ton of digital photographs to download onto the computer also, obviously from the holiday, and therefore a ton of scrapbook layouts. However there appears no break or letup on the 30DC this year (according to other veterans there normally was weekend breaks etc in previous years) so August appears not condusive towards fulfilling all of my intentions towards my challenges etc. I'll prioritise them, and make sure that over the next couple of weeks I do dedicate a few hours to actually scrapbooking some layouts, just as a little light relief. It's still family and school holidays this coming week for us, however, and we'll be making the most of that family time together.

Now, I have a date with some sunshine finally. We have a ponyride for my daughter to get to, and a last-blast bug disco party. And of course, some more swimming.
