TwitterFox
It always pays to actually read the full text if you happen to twitter. Those you are following use various applications to tweet from, and I found this one on a following entry. It's difficult to keep up with all the best of the mozilla firefox extensions, but TwitterFox looks good. It puts a little twitter icon into your browser bar notifying you of how many new entries there are on Twitter from those you are following, plus the best bit for me is that it also includes a little text input box to allow you to quickly twitter from where-ever you may be in your browser.
If you read a previous entry recently, within Facebook there is the BlogIt application which allows you to update twitter, facebook and other statuses like this. It helps to find these types of applications and not to have to constantly log on to update these networking sites.

Font Management Online Class
Many scrapbookers are font freaks - and possibly some of the top 100 questions from new-ish scrapbookers appearing over and over again on scrapbooking boards throughout the world are (in rough chronilogical order) -
- Where did you get that cool font from?
- How do I install my font, and make it work?
- What font site do you recommend?
- I have too many fonts on my computer, and I don’t know how to manage them.
Only last week I spent some time taking a look through my favourite font managemen systems, and linking them up on my links lists. Font types, management systems and processes in selecting, installing, un-installing and previewing are interesting questions for many.
Lynda.com, a site which provides many online training course, has just released a Font Management class including eight hours of content. The class takes the attendee through subjects such as font types, where to get free fonts, and where to purchase them; manual and software font management through both Mac operating systems and Windows, and also provides some instructions in using several different font management systems available.
You will need Quicktime to run the many videos for you, and although the CD copy of this class appears priced for Graphics professionals, you can subscribe to Lynda.com for $25 for a month’s subscription. This price will restrict you from accessing exercise files (happily, the Font Management course doesn’t have any exercises) but you have freedom to look at any of Lynda’s videos from the catalogue of classes for this month’s term. Digital scrappers might like to take a look at the Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro (even up to the market with PSP Xi) courses during that month also, and for scrapbloggers - there’s a Getting Started with Blogger class, and for others - choose from classes on Ipods, Podcasting, Microsoft product courses, quite a few digital photography courses online, and a Working with Color Design Principle class.
Bulk Rename Utility
Yesterday I discovered Better File Renames, and realising if there is one tool out there that does this type of thing, then there are no doubt others. However, a search over the internet for group renaming tools didn’t come up with the gem that Lorraine did. Thanks to Lorraine, I now know about a completely free tool for bulk renaming of folders and files.
Bulk Rename Utility is currently being trialed by me on my main PC. The installation is easy, but once moving into actual renaming, I became a little perplexed by the options available to me. Here’s the screenshot. As you may be able to see, I’m trying to rename an alpha set created by Jaguarwoman, which has simply been named by alphabets, into something with Jaguarwoman’s prefix at the front.
After being perplexed for a while, and accidentally resetting everything, hey - I did it. The file name changes are previewed under the new name panel at the top, and the Rename button was found. Bulk Rename Utility renamed 55 files for me, with an “are you really sure you want to do this?” type message in between. Success.
Really, without scaring myself with the amount of options available on this one (search, replace/with, add, date, numbering, moving and copying to other folders), I could have downloaded the PDF helpfile. But even without it, with a little playing, I’ve found a great and free tool to organise my digital stash with - thanks Lorraine.
Nice Tool - Thinkmap Visual Thesaurus

I like mindmaps as a concept, and Words, as a journaler and blogger. So take a look at Thinkmap’s Visual Thesaurus. This is a purchasable download, but the online trial version lets you play around a bit with your words. Here’s my "Scrap" word - which triggers off the other side of things towards scrapbooking (big joke coming) - that of scrapping or quarreling with other scrappers on forums. LOL.
You can of course, just use a good old thesaurus from your bookshelf, but the software here allows you to click on the mapped words and go off on a tangent discovery of words. The words move too! Have a go.
