  • Mothering Sunday celebrated today.
  • Clocked over to British Summer Time last night - lost an hour’s sleep - not good when it’s Mother’s Day
  • Worries and restructuring at work.

In Bed With Scrapability

General everyday life (if you can call any-body’s general, that is)

  • Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired (sing along with me). Lost count of how many nights I was asleep early, and dragging myself to work the next day.
  • 120 personal scrapability emails in the inbox to deal with. Yes, I counted them - and I belong to too many yahoo groups. Answered quite a few questions about blogging this week. I don’t know why - perhaps people want a blog for spring.
  • Shhh, quirky things coming faster now.
  • Looking forward to - something I’m doing with my virtual friend Swamplovely. Actually, I know she’s not made up - I’ve got mail art from her before.
  • Reading - managed to read the latest CK out here in the UK - Aprils I think. Now I’m out of order, as March and Feb sit under my bed awaiting my attention.
  • Installed - Blade Pro - got this on sale from a local retailer for £10. Can’t make head or tail of it, to be honest. Not exactly a great learning curve.
  • My big weekend exists of creating two layouts, finding hundreds of links for something I’m very committed to, and going to feed the duckies with my daughter. Hardly thrilling - but…
  • Started on - Digital PSP classes through SBB. Finally got to log on, and did a rush job through the first week’s exercises. Hope I don’t get booted out for not doing the homework.
  • Not done - but should have been - a challenge I issued - yes I issued for quirk-misters to create something. And I haven’t yet done my own. At least I had the good sense to issue no deadline on it. And secondly, I promised to create a Scrap Yourself layout, and still haven’t. I had some portrait photos taken - they’re really krap. I have the idea, not the time. And thirdly - I involved myself in a work-based photography competition, and haven’t got around to taking any photos - the theme is reflections. I want to take a mirror photo but am not sure how. Can anybody say the words - too many committments - to me!  Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Scrap Musings

Articles Originally Written For, and Published at UKScrappers as Scrap Musings. Now published at Scrapability.

  • Doodling Too - article on the trend of doodling, with quite a few links to doodling scrappers, including some in the UK. And then there’s National Doodle Day here in the UK
  • Musings on a Crop Cast - podcasting from a scrapbook crop anyone? Or National Scrapbooking Day events?

Other Scraps

  • Check out these Blogs - Making Memories has a blog now, plus another interesting attitude for a personal scrapblog.
  • Layout Share - I scrapped this weekend, and journalled - because I’d challenged myself.

Fun Scraps

  • Costumed Fairies - a bit of fun with digital fairy costumes, and the avatar of the season. Part of the Altered Fantasies theme.
  • Real Life Captured Fairy Costumes - about a book, and an idea that became an Altered Fantasy type circle journal two years ago.

  • Another long working week, circumvented by an afternoon spent sitting around at the hospital. Cold, wet, the UK does the end of Winter with style.
  •  Shhhh, something’s coming out there, and it’s a bit quirky.

  • Freebie for you - Digital ATC Set - under the theme of Altered Fantasies, I created a collage DATC set, and it’s available as a free download.
  • Your Name in Elvish - carrying on with my Altered Fantasies theme, I found a link to learn how to write our names in Elf.
  • Women in Construction - Life Is…A Big Happy Dog on the Beach. Part of my personal class, I finally got around to creating my life collage of hopes and dreams - in digital, of course.
  • ATC Forums - a link to a community for ATCs - this was interesting seeing this link go around a series of blogs like some kind of neural network.
  • Digital Doodles - All You Need is a Scanner - added to the Tips section, in preparation for an upcoming article for UKScrappers.
  • A new fairy avatar added for March this last weekend.
  • More scrapbloggers added as requested. More links added also.

Fun Scraps

In Bed With Scrapability

General everyday life (if you can call any-body’s general, that is)

  • Doing - Women Under Construction focus group - exercises to think about - still
  • Requested  - some interview answers from myself. I’m going to be featured as a Square Peg. Yay, my cornered me!
  • Finalised  - both Big Picture Scrapbooking Classes
  • Written four new articles for this upcoming week for UKScrappers - published ready to go.It takes a full weekend day to do these things.
  • Bought - nothing these last two weeks, but several new digital kits on my wishlist.
  • Still involved in a secret beta test - still to come.
  • Shopping for presents for our favourite neighbours this weekend - they became grandparents for the first time late this week.
  • Reading - Scrapbook Inspirations magazine found on the shelves today, and For Keeps (Australia) magazine came in the mail this morning. I have to renew that subscription - it’s very expensive for overseas mags.
  • Spent a few more days home with the flu, and shouldn’t have gone back to work like I did. Still have it two weeks later. My hubbie was home virtually all this last week with it also.
  • My hubbie has started his own blog now - on sports. I spent all Saturday afternoon creating his blogger header, then had a nightmare trying to find out how to get it showing in Blogger’s template. How more difficult could they make it?
  • Misc - went to hairdressors, went shopping and bought 7 garden gnomes (yes - the 7 dwarfs, and no - it’s not me in this family who likes them); tired tired tired - late work hours again, combined with the flu makes for little motivation to do anything in the evenings but fall asleep, a walk to the lake to feed the ducks and swan - and they weren’t hungry.

Scrapability Weekly Roundup - To Feb 19th

Lots of articles coming, planned, written but not quite published. Plus this week - I actually got a layout done - slightly accidentally - but all that time creating meant the blog suffered. Happily.

Discussions Points, Opinions and News & Views

  • Altered - a Definition Discussion - part of the Altered Fantasies theme, a very long diatribe on the definitions for altered, collage and embellished.

  • The next big thing? - scrapbooking applications to video stamps?
  • Review : 52 Projects - a review of a project and creativity little book by Jeffrey Yamaguchi - thoroughly recommended.
  • Announcing the Scrapability Quarter Theme - My noticing of a general theme of late, and the progression of this for three months. This quarter’s theme is Altered Fantasies. Hence the new banner, and a change of fairy costume this week also.

  • What is it About the Hands? - handcrafting musings.

  • Changed my header banner to announce the theme for the quarter, and changed the fairy costume on my avatar - joy fairy costume by Maya.
  • Added five or so new digi websites to the lists, and a few new scrapbloggers - including a fav digital designer of mine - who has just setup a blog recently - Kathryn Balint.

What I do Away from the blog (yeah, I knew you’d look)

  • Doing - Women Under Construction focus group - exercises to think about
  • Reading - around 8 different scrapbooking magazines now that I’ve finally located a new retailer to get these from
  • Doing - UR 2 Cre8tive musings, and still getting the Week’s classes on You to the Power of 10 - both Big Picture Scrapbooking Classes
  • Written two new articles for this upcoming week for UKScrappers - published ready to go.
  • Bought five new elements packs from Scrapbook Bytes - flowers, flowers, flowers - a hint for the above.
  • Involved in a beta test coming up for what sounds like an exciting piece of scrapbooking software.
  • Went shopping finally on Sunday, and came back with £150 of books from Borders (yeah, always) - including a nice notebook / ideas-capturer to throw into the handbag, and an altered diary concept. Oh, and lots of books for my daughter - we love children’s books around here.
  • Spent the day at home on Friday - all of us - my daughter and I have the flu (yes, again), and the hubbie was supporting his father through his first operation. Washed the cars on Saturday. 5 loads of washing. Saturday night - a delayed valentine’s celebration for my hubbie (even if I was a bit cold-ridden). Sunday - got woken up at 7:30am by a call from New Zealand - she got the time difference wrong! Still, it got us into town shopping to beat the crowds.
  • Installed all the latest fonts from Scrapbook Answers CD.
  • Created two new digital collages of me as a fairy (weird, I know) to post up here.
  • Uploaded some things to Mo Land, using Mo Jackson stuff - this time altered. Downloaded a few freebie kits from generous designers - ScrapFX has a great freebie elements selection, and KB sent me something from ACOT.
  • Started work on another bag - Clippitykit bags to accessorise my Z Becky Brown one.
