On Holiday!
In my haste to pack and travel, I completely forgot to blog that I’m off on holiday. So, this is being logged from the airport, for 50p per 3 minutes.
My family is off on holiday for a week or so. The cats are being looked after by our neighbours, and we’ve probably packed too much (as usual) for the 42 degree heat expected at our destination this coming week. But we leave the U.K. with thunderstorms, and mud at Glastenbury.
See you all in a week!
All About Eve - New challenge Blog

Jakey wrote to me about this one, and I've checked it out. I've added the link to the lists here for scrapability, and will put down exactly what Jake wrote, to give you an introduction to the blog itself -
Some friends and I have started a new bi-weeklychallenge blog called All About Eve, which will concentrate on challengingwomen throughout the world to get themselves inside the pages of their albums. It’s a truly international blog with girls (some well known names) from theUK, South America, USA, Israel, Canada, the Netherlands. You can read about us here: http://allabouteve-challenges
.blogspot.com/ We have a fun contest going on this week offering a kit fromCupcake Scrapshop as the prize, and our first challenge will be airednext Friday 22nd June.
Jakey goes on to suggest that the Eves will shortly be joined by a big name from down under - so you'll just have to go and check Eve out!

What Do People Want?
Lessons from the Scrapbook Page: Real Women Scrap TV - A New Chapter
This is Tasra Dawson’s Real Women Scrap blog, with a link taking you to a poll she has up there. I’ve spoken about Tasra and Real Women Scrap before, as I’m currently reading her very inspiring book.
Tasra’s poll has been responded to by over 100 women so far, and she asks what they want to see more of on the online broadcasts that accompany the concepts from Tasra’s book. I responded too - but you will see my responses statistically are found on the two areas which are LEAST on other scrapper’s minds.
My responses were towards Life Lessons and Inspiring Stories from Real Women. Perhaps it’s that time of my life, whilst I feel my own need to again, appreciate life itself. I found the results (so far) niceto see that people don’t want celebrity interviews, or scrapbook industry news - both are catered for on other websites which have those niches particularly well settled.
What I found surprising (perhaps niavely) is that the current results suggest that scrappers answering this poll, just want more scrapbook projects from Tasra’s site. I had thought that projects also were well catered for by other websites, magazines, and the like. Instead, perhaps Tasra has a completely new audience for these, which appreciate her methods of introducing these via video broadcasts online.
Here’s a snapshot of the current poll results. Go and take the poll yourself, if you agree or disagree with the responses thus far. And oh - the book’s brilliant too!
What A Week!
It’s been almost a week since I’ve been near the internet, emails and this blog, so sorry for that. Firstly my absence was brought about by the chronic thunderstorms over here in the U.K, which have been cycling through on most days for a week - the last (hopefully!) was last night. Very spectacular, but with resulting losses in access to satelites, PCs etc. And the water plummeting down! Well, I can hardly complain about the buckets we have outside our house to catch overflowing guttering, as many others around this district and elsewhere have been flooded out of their homes. It feels very tropical, however - currently despite the threatening clouds “over there”, there is intense sunshine and 22 degree heat this summer evening.
My weekend was filled with family stuff, of course. It was my 40th birthday last Sunday, as well as Father’s Day. Before that, our local village had it’s summer carnival and fete to attend. A raincheck on my birthday plans, due to many reasons, but between showers we did manage to have a family BBQ, and not undercook the sausages.
And then there’s my work week. This coming weekend, we head off for our summer holidays, so this week for my hubbie and I is all about ensuring our teams and work is up to scratch. For me, my department is smack in the middle of a major release of new software, which is always going to be chronic for my test team and me. So - long days of work, commuting back home by 7:00pm in the evening, and then - quite honestly, going to bed dog-tired (and pondering over the startling lightnight effects out our windows).
Most of this was unplanned, so I apologise again, because now that I have logged on - I’ve got streams of mails and things to attend to, and it looks like, without spending that much time reading over things as yet, that I have some great news also. So - here goes -
Happy Birthday (Belatedly) to the June Babes
There are quite a few designers who celebrate their own birthdays this month, and two who celebrate it on the same day as mine. In particular, I’d like to mention Mo Jackson, who sent me a personal birthday message on the day - and which I only picked up two days later, sent off a belated birthday wish in response, then shut down as another set of thunder storms rolled in yesterday evening. Mo and I share the same birthdate. Many other glorious digital designers also share Gemini-hood within this month. The best chance to catch them on their birthdays is to check out the bottom of the Digishop Talk forums pages, where birthdays show.
I hope that all of you have or have had a fabulous birthday this month.
Queen of the Crop Winner(s)!
Yes, last week I did manage to do one thing, and only one thing the entire week - and that was to vote for the people I wanted to win. I voted twice, once for Angie, and once for another layout which particularly appealed to me. They were all absolutely fabulous, and I hope that everyone took a look / voted / will still go and have a look.
How anyone could have missed the announcements from Sunday (other than me for a while that is) is beyond me, but if you still want all the information, here’s the link onto the announcement itself.
And the winners were -
Queen of the Crop - Sprellen
First Runner Up - Angie (yeehah!)
Second Runner Up - Laura Kaye.
And a huge congratulations to those three!! Their layouts are really wonderful, and well deserved of the votes and awards they have gained. I also think the remainder seven final layouts are great too!
The QOTC contest also announced several Pixel Princesses. Here they are -
Amanda Kleparek, Amy Hutchinson, Buzziebie, Indah, Jana Hartley, Jennifer Okonek, Juliana Olivieira, Katie the Scrapbooklady, Keela Fox, Kimberly Pollinger, Lynette Penacho, Marquita, Maureen Spell, Michelle Thompson, Monika Biedermann, Natalie3son, Ronee Parsons, Stephanie Czosnek, Teresa Ferguson, Emily Merrit
And yes - that is my name there, along with several other scrappers I recognise. I’d love to thank the team members at SBG who did vote for me to be Pixel Princess. It’s the best surprise I could have possibly hoped for - no, I’ll overwrite this, because I did the whole thing for the layouts themselves, which remain as pride of place within this year’s album so far. But being a princess is kinda kewl also!!!! And I’m in the company of some great princesses also (plus the queens).
CT Membership - Robyn Gough
This has been happening over the course of a couple of weeks now, but Robyn has sent through a normal fan blinkie now, (and hopefully one with my name on it eventually, lol). Robyn suggested I might like to consider working as a CT member for her. I normally have never applied for all the CT calls out there - solely because I know I can’t commit time to complete the normal three or so layouts wanted during a month, or actively participate on boards and forums. But Robyn Gough, the Clikchic, operates a slightly more casual CT membership.
I’ve always greatly appreciated Robyn’s designs - she does some great grungy stuff which fits with my own style, and what I have discussed previously towards the QOTC contest was the fact that things like that are great motivators to get scrapbook layouts done. For me, I’m struggling with many and various ties for my own time at the moment, so I have selected something for myself which I think will work again as a motivator to see what I can create out of a designer’s work, plus get some more layouts done. How kewl is that?
So - look out for my work peppering various galleries around the digi-world, and here on the blog. I can’t wait to see what I get up to with the Clikchic designs - it’s always a mystery to me what comes out on digital paper despite my best plans. Isn’t scrapbooking great, though!
Christina Renee has a Store!
Christina Renee Designs
Nice, if you go to her blog, you'll find - well, lots of text for a start - and a code for 25% off. I actually own most of this stuff at full price, so was bemused at my own purchasing power and just how much of it I realised I already had, lol. But for anyone out there who's been holding off - have a look around!
